Privacy policy

Maroo Café Restaurant Bar (“Maroo”, “we”), 4 Yarra St, South Yarra VIC 3141, respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why, and how we look after it, in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you book a table, we collect:

• your name, phone number and email address;
• the date, time and number of guests;
• anything you choose to tell us, such as an occasion, special requests or notes (including dietary needs);
• technical details sent with the booking: your IP address and browser type, used to prevent spam and misuse.

If you call or email us, we keep the details you give us so we can reply.

How we use it

• to hold your table and manage your booking;
• to send you a booking confirmation, and contact you about your booking if something changes;
• to prepare for your visit, for example a birthday or a high chair;
• to keep the booking system secure.

We don't sell your information or use it for marketing without your consent.

Booking confirmation emails

Confirmation emails are sent from our own Google (Gmail) account through Google's Gmail service. Our booking system has permission only to send email from that account; it can't read our inbox. Google handles these emails under its own privacy policy.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run our booking system, and only as needed:

• our hosting provider, where the website and booking system run;
• Google, which delivers our emails and lets our staff sign in to the booking system.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Maps

The map on this website is provided by Google Maps. When it loads, Google may receive information such as your IP address and set its own cookies, under Google's privacy policy. This website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies of its own.

Keeping it safe

Your information is sent over an encrypted connection and stored on secured servers. Only our staff can see bookings, and they sign in with their Google accounts. We keep booking details for as long as we need them to run the restaurant and meet legal obligations, then delete them.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, by emailing us. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
